my hand at upcycling clothes

A little 'T' with a big #3! ;)
This is a homemade birthday present for our sweet little 3 year old friend. I had wanted to buy her something then I got sick etc etc..I couldn't let little Kayras' 3 year old birthday pass
without a present.
I made a grocery run and ran into these t-shirts 2 for 10 liras. (So 2 for $7.00 ) So I thought I would give the upcycling craz a try at my home too. :)

I decided I could upcycle clothes just as good as the rest of these amazing inspiring bloggy mommies out there.  So here is the gift for Kayra complete with a DIY fabric rosette headband to match.
This upcycled T-shirt is part of my Sewing Simple series.

I cut out a number three and then traced it on my fabric and cut it out. I then pinned it on the shirt.
I sewed the # three onto the shirt and made two little rosettes for the sleeves that I sewed on by hand.
 That's it.

After making the shirt I fealt like it just needed a little something else.
So with a little bit of this and a little bit of that (which is what I had on hand) a matching headband was born. :)

Happy Birthday Kayra we love you!!

Here is a quick TUTORIAL on the headband.
It really is very simple. Come on give it a try.;)

These are the same rosettes I made for the Fabric Bookmarks
Click here for the tutorial on how to make the rosettes.

I hot glued the three rosettes together then unto the headband.
I then put a dab of hot glue on the ribbons to secure them.

Tada

Well not to original but it was a lot of fun.  I would like to get better at upcycling clothes.  My favorite is cutting out shapes from fabric and adding them to clothes.  So I hope to get better at this. Plus it is a GREAT way to save a dime and have something unique and chic.

Thank you all so much for your comments and following along!! I really am enjoying the beginning of this blogging journey with you all.
